181111-China Town Incheon

Image
A last minute decision. We visited China Town in Incheon. We are curious to know how Chinatown is like in Korea. We did not get our answer. This place is totally for tourist. You will not be able to see any chinese staying here. In fact, the whole place is a shopping street with food. Another shopping street for tourist. They have converted another street into a Fairy Tale Village.  While walking toward the traditional market, we come across this quiet street. Then we realized this is the filming site for Goblin. The much talked about, the fried chicken in Sinpo Traditional Market. I think it is overrated. The skin is crunchy while hot. But when it turn cold, it ends up very chewy.  The problem is, they sell from 13000 won for 2 person, so I think it is very costly. Anyway, we tried and we know what is like. How to get to Incheon ChinaTown Take Line one all the way to Incheon Station Chinatown is located directly opposite the station.

If you are in Seoul for a short period of time and still wants to venture into greenery to see autumn leaves, Seoul Forest may be a good choice. We were late again, but hey, when you are not too late, you have the best of both world. There are some yellow and orange red leaves on top of the trees for you to view, the yellow gingko leaves act as a carpet for you. I believe this is a created forest, the trees are planted in straight line. So it look so beautiful for picture taking. No need to go Nami Island. It is as beautiful as those people took from Nami Island. There is a mini zoo for the deers as we To get to Seoul Forest Take subway line 2 to Sangwangsimni Station From Sangwangsimni Station, take the yellow line to Seoul-Forest Not forgetting, we did another round of ginseng chicken soup for brunch at Tosokchon Samgyetang before we travel to Seoul Forest.  Must allow my hubby to feast on this as this is a must eat list in Seoul. After Seoul Forest, we when

Naejangsan located in Jeongeup. A place I long wanted to visit. Read so much about this place to view autumn leaves in autumn. Finally we have this chance but realised we are 1 week late. Most of the leaves have fallen off. But still, it is really beautiful. The road leading towards the park. As beautiful as those reported in those internet. The queue to ropeway to the mountain top was extremely long and it seems like going to rain. So we decided not to visit the mountain top. The park at the base is also quite big to explore. We ended spending about 2 hours and later rush off as the sky is getting rather dark. Being late has its advantages. The leaves were on the floor. So we can view autumn leave (those still on the tree) and those on the floor. It is so beautiful Mapel leaves can be of yellow, red in colour. So pretty Oh we tried the Lotte burger with cheese sticks at Lotte near the ropeway station at Naejangsan. Turn out the cheese sticks wer

181106 Namdaemun, Goto Mall

Namdaemun - To reach here Take a subway to Hoehyeon Station. There will be signage in English telling you where to exit from station. Before you exit the underground station, you will see a lot of stalls located at the sub-way stations. Actually in Seoul, you will find that most of the sub-way stations comes with a shopping mall underground. We visited in the morning and it was bustling with stores selling clothing, accessories, hats and food. For me, so long as prices not displayed, they are not selling cheap stuff. See and don't touch. Goto Mall - Located at Seoul Express Terminal. You can reach here by taking a sub way to Seoul Express Terminal. A shopping heaven for ladies. You will never see the end of the shopping street. So long and 2 parallel street with both stalls from both side. Meaning 4 rows of stalls running parallel. Prices from 10,000 won. Sometimes we see tops at 5000won. Pretty and cheap apparel you can find here. We shop until our hands were full an

181108 E Mart

E Mart -Located at Jeungmi Station, 1 stop away from Standard Hotel 3 level of shopping with a food mart at ground floor and a food court on the 3rd level. Lotte Mart is a must visit place when you visit Seoul. I do not like Lotte Mart. It is over crowded with tourist. However, we must understand that almost all Lotte Mart cashier are tax free where you can buy and pay with tax rebate by showing your passport. Moreover, since they sell alot, their prices seems cheaper too. At this E-Mart, since it is out of the city, I do not see signage of tax free etc. It seems this is meant more for locals. Language is a barrier. So I decided not to ask for any tax free payment. Just buy what I want and what I need. Cause, I am not going to buy a lot home too. I started at the 1st level and is already so happy with the fruits and food that I found. The gimbap(Bottom left) is so delicious that after having 2 rolls, I bought another 4 rolls for coffee break. The colorful tomatoes (top right) is juic

181107 - Jungbu Market, Standard Hotel

Jungbu Dried seafood market - A short walk for Eujiro 4 (Sa)gna subway station. I love to see the dried seafood here. Unfortunately I cannot bring any of the dried seafood back home. The reason for me to visit this place this morning is to get my Korean Ginseng powder here.  I came 2 days ago but was told there were no more red ginseng powder. After using hands gesture and mobile phone calendar, we managed to communicate that the stock will arrive few days later and I will be able to have it if I come today morning. On my previous trip to Seoul 3 yrs ago, we stayed at Morning Sky Hotel and this market is just behind the hotel. We bought the Ginseng sweets and powder from this shop and is nice. So, I am back here, glad the shop is still around. Bought 2 bottles of  Red Ginseng Powder at 90,000won. We spotted this shop near The Standard Hotel, the hotel that I am supposed to move to for stay from 7 Nov tot 12 Nov. As we can only check in at 3pm and we arrived at around 12 plus, w

We started our day by buying the famous Isaac Toast from an outlet near our hotel. Since it is a take away counter, we bought 1 muffin bacon with cheese and egg and brought it back to hotel to have breakfast there. (Hotel provides free breakfast for us). My verdict: I will eat it but not go there specially for it. The food has a very soft spongy muffin (the only thing I like about), top with a layer of bacon, a layer of egg omelet, a thin layer of reddish pickle and cheese. There is a tangy sweet flavor when you eat it. I prefer salty feel sandwich but not sweet salty meat sandwich. But not as bad as I will not eat it. If I am hungry, I will eat. Ha ha. Started our tour by visiting Jungbu Market where we see dried seafood and buy our ginseng sweets and my red ginseng powder. Saw a hawker selling some red bean cakes (above). Bought 1 at 2000 won and ended up throwing away as it taste ... tasteless. Then we proceed to Kwangjiang Market for topokki, 3000won and fish cake, 1000won).
