E Mart -Located at Jeungmi Station, 1 stop away from Standard Hotel 3 level of shopping with a food mart at ground floor and a food court on the 3rd level. Lotte Mart is a must visit place when you visit Seoul. I do not like Lotte Mart. It is over crowded with tourist. However, we must understand that almost all Lotte Mart cashier are tax free where you can buy and pay with tax rebate by showing your passport. Moreover, since they sell alot, their prices seems cheaper too. At this E-Mart, since it is out of the city, I do not see signage of tax free etc. It seems this is meant more for locals. Language is a barrier. So I decided not to ask for any tax free payment. Just buy what I want and what I need. Cause, I am not going to buy a lot home too.
I started at the 1st level and is already so happy with the fruits and food that I found. The gimbap(Bottom left) is so delicious that after having 2 rolls, I bought another 4 rolls for coffee break. The colorful tomatoes (top right) is juicy but not as sweet as those I ate at Hokkaido. I have no complaints for it. We almost spit out the juices when we bite them. This shows how juicy they are. |

Inhouse brand-no brand items are something that we must look for. I bought a packet of Sweet potato crackers (Top left) is very nice indeed. There are plenty of things to shop. I compared this hypermarket to those hypermarket AEON in Japan. |

It was raining in Seoul and the weather is turning cold. I have used up my disposable mask that I brought from home (I bought from Japan) and I really have problem looking for disposable mask in Seoul Pharmacy. Unlike in Japan, disposable mask is sold in bulk, like in a box of 100 and cheap. I thought I can easily get it here because everyone will need it during winter too. I was so wrong. Those sold in the Pharmacy were very costly. 1 piece (better quality ones) at 2000 won. I cannot be throwing 2000 won a day correct? Lucky me, there is this Daiso stores in Seoul. Yes, Daiso from Japan. Funny how, we always ended up shopping in Daiso everywhere we traveled, so long as there is one. The best part is, the things they sell can be different. For example we cannot find disposable underwear in Daiso Seoul. I remembered I bought a lot of them from Daiso in Japan.
I remember seeing this Daiso near Ewha station. So we took a sub-way from Hotel to Ewha station, Lucky me, I managed to find these disposable mask in Daiso. At only 1000won for 30 pcs. I prefer the large size ones, as these can cover more of our faces. I also bought the 2000won pack thinking there may be more pieces in this box. But instead, there are only 30 pieces individually wrapped disposable face mask.
We went back to E-mart again for dinner and some shopping as it was raining and not so convenient to go around Sincho. We check out level 3 food court of Emart. Everything is in Korean. So the only way to order is to snap pictures and showed them what we wanted. However, I realised the cashier tried to see the ingredients of my picture in order to see what I wanted. Realised this store is specialised in Bibimbap, so different province has different ingredients. Lucky my daughter learnt some basic Korean food in Korean. So she managed to communicate in Korean language with them. There goes our order. Well eating in food court managed by departmental stores tend to be on the more expensive side. Above meal cost 8 to 9 K won each. Still, we are tourist. Anything we ate, so long as delicious, we are happy. |
How to get to E-Mart mentioned here.
