181104 Changdeokgung Palace and its secret garden

It is Sunday and we decided to visit the Secret Garden of Changdeokgung Palace. As I was not able to reserve tickets from the website, we decided to go early to get the tickets from the ticket counter at the palace.
We decided to walk to the palace to get the tickets for afternoon tour. We need to buy tickets for the palace before we can get the tickets for the garden. So 5000 for the palace entry and another 3000 for the garden

We walked to the famous Tosokchon Samgyetang Chicken shop located near to Gyeongbokgung Subway station. We have tried this place before and we love the taste of it and would like to come back for it again. If I remember correctly, the black chicken cost 23K and the white at 16K. Add the liquor (meant for drinking) into the soup and we love it. I must say, if you never eat this is when you visit Seoul, it is like you never visit the country. Ha ha ha.

Address from Google : 5 Jahamun-ro 5-gil, Chebu-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea
Set in a olden house, this place is always full of tourist. So we went there at 11.30am to avoid the lunch crowd. I am not posting any picture of the restaurant. Let you see for yourself when you are here. By the way, they are very good in crowd control. So even if you need to queue, the queue move very fast.
We happened to pass by Seoul Square, saw some culinary event going on. A walk through it and sees so many kinds of traditional Korean food on display. These are so interesting and I cannot just walk away. So we spent about 1 hour looking and enjoying them display before proceeding to Changdeokgung Palace.

Changdeokgung Palace

We are here for the leaves. So we are looking at more of the trees than the palace.

At last, the tour started. There are 100 tourist per group. We are given a choice to follow the tour guide or just walk along ourselves. We wanted to follow the guide so that at least we know what is the garden about.
Apparently, the garden is very beautiful.

The humorous tour guide

Beautiful colours you will find.

After the tour, we walked towards Insadong for Bingsu. A korean shaved ice desert. We chose the soy bean bingsu at Sulbing Insadong. We were quite disappointed as the shave ice was like shave almonds. Not those like the snow ice. (It seems that my friend is not lucky for food. First the porridge at Daegu is not nice and now the bingsu)

After a rest at Insadong, we proceed to Seoul Station for dinner at the food court and shopping at Lotte Mart. (Above Bimbimbap and Zhar Jiang Mian)
To reach Tosokchon Samgyetang
Take a subway to Gyeongbokgung Station. Exit 2 and walk straight.

To reach Changdeokgung Palace
Take a sub way to Anguk station. There will be signage in the station telling you where to exit.
